About the Author

A US citizen, Richard Lord has lived and worked for 18 years in Germany. After taking his MA in English from Boston College, Lord worked as a freelance journalist specialising in film and theatre criticism, and as the associate editor of CHOMP, a food and dining monthly. Lord also taught English, Drama and Film at Boston College and English and Creative Writing for the University of Maryland—European Division. He taught business and technical English for the German electronics company AEG and financial English for the Deutsche Bundesbank. 


In the 1990s, he wrote on the Frankfurt dining scene and a wide range of other topics for Main City, the Frankfurter Allgemeine’s English-language magazine. 

His previously published works include a volume of poems about Berlin, Beyond Walls: Berlin Views (Amberse Press, 1988), Succeed in Business: Germany (Times Editions, 1998), Countries of the World: Germany (Gareth Stevens Publishing, 1999) and the English translation of Thirty Years of German-Israeli Relations (TribΓΌne Verlag, 1995).
